Monday, June 12th Week 10

Tomorrow 20 °C

Noon 28°C

Evening 22°C

We are leaving Albania today. Well, the line at the border is longer than it was a few weeks ago when we entered the country. A little patience is required, but it is far from bad. We would not want to be here in high season, though. We hear of waiting times of several hours. OK, that happens here too. Not at the border, but at the Gotthard tunnel ;-)

We drive to the Safari Beach campsite again, which is already very, very full. And the beach!

There are deckchairs next to deckchairs and parasols next to parasols as far as the eye can see, waiting for the summer tourists to arrive. As you can see, we managed to get a spot right at the front at lunchtime and were able to enjoy the wonderfully warm weather. A thunderstorm started in the middle of the afternoon, but the storm passed and we were able to move outside again.

Tomorrow 20°C

Noon 27°C

Evening 22 °C

Actually, the route from Ulcinj to Kotor is not that far - unless you take a detour into the mountains of Montenegro. And then we drive even further than planned because one of the stretches turns out to be very narrow.

Yes, sometimes things don't turn out quite as you think. But the prospects are fantastic.

The final stop was not planned in Kotor. But the day of driving was long and so we slept again in the not so attractive parking lot. We had barely arrived at around 4.30 p.m. when the obligatory thunderstorm came. But later on it was still dry enough for a walk into town.

Day route: Ulcinj - Kotor

Distance: 230 km

Average consumption: 9.9 liters

Average speed: 40 km/h

Travel time: 5 hours 41 minutes

Wednesday, June 14

Tomorrow 18°C

Noon 27°C

Evening 21 °C

Our alarm clock rings just after 5 a.m. We set off before breakfast. The Bay of Kotor is beautiful but it's also tiring to drive in the heavy traffic. There aren't many people out and about this early in the morning. And then a cruise ship turns around the corner! A large parking lot and we stop, have breakfast and watch the ship until it disappears from our sight.

At the customs in Montenegro you need the usual amount of patience, Croatia is a bit quicker.

It's not even 10 o'clock yet and we're already seeing masses of motorhomes coming towards us. Oh dear, this could be fun. We drive to Split and since we're there early, there are still a few free spaces. By the evening, even the emergency spaces are taken! At 1.30 p.m. we treat ourselves to a late lunch in the campsite restaurant and then take the 4.30 p.m. bus into town and stroll through the streets with lots of tourists. One more aperitif and then we head back. We still have work to do, the homepage for the last three days needs to be updated.

Daily route: Kotor - Split

Distance: 298 km

Average consumption: 8.1 liters

Average speed: 50 km/h

Travel time: 5 hours 53 minutes

Pitch costs: Camping Stobrec 43 euros, including water/supply, including electricity

Thursday, June 15

Tomorrow 18°C

Noon 25°C

Evening 22°C

As predicted, we start the day rainy. It's actually supposed to rain all day today. Fortunately, weather forecasts aren't always right. As soon as we set off, the rain lets up and that's it. We're heading further north. The weather is supposed to be sunny and warm from tomorrow at the latest.

Shortly after Primosten we look at the Adriatic campsite. We have driven past it on every trip to Croatia and Greece. Well, there are even a few free spots but we can't explain it exactly, we can't warm to the place and drive on.

So we went to our planned destination from the beginning - the island of Murter, Camping Plitka Vala.

We were here in June 2018 and we really liked it. There is a small area without electricity, but it is right on the water and it is usually only sparsely occupied, as electricity is very important for most people.

And today luck is on our side. Even though two giant RVs have taken up a lot of space with a boat trailer, an additional tent and who knows what else, we can still park there and have plenty of space all around. A small bus and a normal RV are also still there, all very well spread out. Perfect.

After our salad bouquet and a little siesta, we unload our e-bikes and stroll to Bettina. Just to see what's new. In the other direction we go to Camping Jezera and our wonderful noses have to go there too.

The campsite now has a lovely, cosy restaurant and we are delighted with the ambience and the cuisine.

What a contrast to the packed square in Split, hidden between trees, with no sea view and a lamp that brightly lit up our bedroom.

Tonight only the stars shine for us!

Day route: Split - Bettina, island of Murter

Distance: 119 km

Average consumption: 8.1 liters

Average speed: 48 km/h

Travel time: 2 hours 26 minutes

Pitch costs: Camping Plitka Vala 26 euros, including water/supply, without electricity

Friday, 16 - Sunday 18 June

Tomorrow 19 °C

Midday 30°C

Evening 26 °C

We spend 3 wonderful days on the island of Murter. The sun shines from early in the morning until late in the evening. The wind is a bit strong at times, but we don't sweat.

On Sunday we will get a taste of how hot it can get when the wind dies down.

The days are filled with sleeping in, relaxing, lazing around, splashing in the sea, reading, doing nothing and exploring the island on e-bikes.

We are taking a break from traveling.
